Roadside Attractions has released the first trailer for Girl Most Likely, which used to be called Imogene, which is the name of the lead character played by Kristen Wiig.

Directed by Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, the story follows Imogene, a failed New York playwright who is forced to make the move back home to New Jersey with her eccentric mother and younger brother (Annette Bening and Christopher Fitzgerald).

Adding further insult to injury, there's a strange man sleeping in her old bedroom (Darren Criss) and an even stranger man sleeping in her mother's bed (Matt Dillon). Through it all, Imogene eventually realizes that as part of her rebuilding process she must finally come to love and accept both her family and her Jersey roots if she's ever going to be stable enough to get the hell away from them.

Roadside picked the film up at the Toronto International Film Festival last year, but I didn't get a chance to see it while I was there and I can't remember anyone saying much about it one way or another. The one thing I can't help but think when I see this film is how little we've seen of Wiig since Bridesmaids, after which she promptly exited "Saturday Night Live". She does provide some voice work for Despicable Me 2 later this year and has a role in Anchorman: The Legend Continues, so it isn't as if she disappeared, but it seems like we just haven't seen much of her.

Girl Most Likely will hit theaters on July 19. Give the trailer a watch below.

looks pretty good and you can never have too much Matt Dillon, i grew up with his stuff

It's a shame Brad doesn't watch trailers as he's missing out on one of his favorite songs for the last 20 seconds.

Anyway I think this looks good, but its easy to cut a two minute trailer for a crappy comedy, so i'll wait for more reviews to come in.

Matt dillon looks like he's going to be great in this but the rest of the film looks rather average.

  • Chris

Brad! This trailer has your favorite song. "I don't care, I love it!" Every time I hear that song I crack up.

      Me too!

Kristen Wiig is the best and I want to see more of her on screen!

  • Michael

So they changed the title huh? Anyways, I love Kristen Wiig, i've been interested with this movie since last year so hopefully it's good.

I think we haven't seen much of her because she is choosing her projects carefully making sure she does quality material unlike fellow Bridesmaid Melissa McCarthy who appears to have done any script that has been thrown at her.

    • Ryguy815

I wouldn't exactly say McCarthy has been taking ever script thrown at her. If I'm correct she's only been in two movies since Bridesmaids (This Is 40 and Identity Thief, both of which I thought were pretty funny and both were a lot better than Bridesmaids in my opinion). Then she has The Heat coming out later this year and to me that looks hilarious. So I'd say she's been picking quality movies to be in too.

She's done The Heat, This is 40, Identity The if, The Hangover Pt. III and has other very similar upcoming projects.

I was wondering what happened to this film. Considering the tepid response from Toronto, I'm not very interested.

I wish you had a review for this one- only because i'm curious. Though I wouldn't wish for you to waste your time watching it.

One of my least favorite of the year.
