Giddy Up Pitt
Thesp confirmed for James role.
Back in March of 2004 Variety reported that Brad Pitt was eyeing the opportunity to become one of the outlaws most notorious gunslingers, Jesse James, now they are reporting that it is going through as the film will be directed by Andrew Dominik for Warner Bros.
Apparently there is going to be an attempt to get the film in theaters this year.
The adaptation of the Robert Hansen novel, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford," was optioned last year as a co-production between Scott Free partners Ridley and Tony Scott, and Pitt's Plan B, which also involves Brad Grey and Jennifer Aniston in the mix. With Grey now at Paramount and Pitt and Aniston on the outs there is speculation on the continuation of the company.
The story will follow Robert Ford, who joined James' gang as a neophyte gunslinger and soon became resentful about all the attention paid to the man known as the fastest gun in the West. Ford figured to cement his rep by killing James, but after shooting his idol in the back, he was forever branded a coward.
