Fuqua Takes On Biggie

If there is one director that has been given far too few projects in Hollywood, in my opinion it is Antione Fuqua, but with news that Fox Searchlight has their sights set on Fuqua to direct the bigscreen version of the life and times of late rapper the Notorious B.I.G., aka Biggie Smalls and Christopher Wallace sounds absolutely perfect.
The script is being penned as we speak with Cheo Hodari Coker on the paper, a former journalist who worte the bio on Biggie, "Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of the Notorious B.I.G."
Biggie was part of the East Coast vs. West Coast rap rivalry back in the mid-to-late 90s along with fellow rapper, the late Tupac Shakur. Wallace was gunned down at the age of 24 at a Vibe magazine after-party outside L.A.'s Peterson Automotive Museum in March 1997. Eight years later, no one has been charged in the murder. Coker, a former writer at Vibe magazine and the New York Times, was the last person to interview the rapper before his murder.
Fingers have been pointed in several occassions at the LAPD, it will be interesting to see how the drama plays out on the big screen and if any conspiracy theories will come to light.
