Yahoo has debuted the first full length trailer for The Runaways starring Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett in a film that follows the rise and fall of the all-girl rock band The Runaways.

I am a little interested in this film, not really for the material, but to see how the two actresses handle the roles. I'm still not sure how talented Kristen Stewart is…I liked her in Adventureland, but that might have been a case of her just being right for the part, rather than her showing any real acting chops. And Dakota Fanning has obviously made a name for herself as a child actress, but I feel like this could be a chance for her to begin to be taken seriously as an adult actress and move toward more mature roles.
I am fine when they cast a child in a role like Jodie Foster in Taxie Driver. Jodie at that time was the age for the role in Taxie Driver. Fanning is sixteen playing a twenty something year old…Why?
No, Currie was only 15 when she joined The Runaways, the casting is quite accurate.

I am totally on board for this movie. A movie about Joan Jett I was sold instantly, let alone about the runaways and cherie currie as well. The cast seems teen grabbing but I think it will work. They both look the parts perfectly and from these trailers Kristen Stewart is doing a very good job convincing me she is Joan Jett. The music is on the spot too. Cannot wait to see this.
Cherie was the same age as Dakota when all of this happened. This role has more justification behind it than Jodie's because Cherie is a REAL PERSON.
