Yahoo has just debuted the first full trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the Twilight franchise starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner due to hit theaters on June 30.

30 Days of Night helmer David Slade directs as Bella (Stewart) once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward (Pattinson) and her friendship with Jacob (Lautner) – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.

The trailer offers the first look at Bryce Dallas Howard as she replaces Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria, but other than that it doesn't offer much. You can check out the trailer directly below and I added nine screen captures from the trailer and added them to the RopeofSilicon gallery right here.

You can watch it in high definition at Yahoo.

That looks awful. And why is a decent actress like Brice Dallas Howard in it? Must've needed a paycheck.

  2. humptydumpty

At least they're pumping them out quickly so it'll all be over soon…

  3. Micah

    It hurts my skull.

This crap-fest will probably break a ton of records. This just shows how stupid people are.

  5. It looks overly melodramatic, horrendous, ridiculous & stupid.

With that said, I absolutely cannot wait to see it on June 30th. It's going to be the most entertaining movie ever.

I'll actually be in the UK when the movie opens- hopefully I'll be able to hang out with some English Team Jacob members.

Is it just me or is the plot for this movie identical to New Moon?

    • It basically is. "Eclipse" is mostly Jacob and Edward fighting over Bella again. But for reals this time.

Also Brad, I'm extremely ashamed of you right now. This is a post about "Twilight" we're talking about here. How could you forget to add in a

      SQUEEEEEEE!!!!

you know i thought victoria would look alot worse in this one but she doesn't look all that bad

  8. Philip

looks like its gonna be another 2 hour borefest.NEXT

  9. I watched it just to have a good laugh and it didn't disappoint at all… cause it looks like an incredibly naive, stupid, soapy and boring POS with non-existent acting and dialogue evidently written by an 8-year-old. Which equals hilarious… but at the same time, I can't help but feel sad because this is the movie from the guy who gave us Hard Candy. Oh man.

At least New Moon's trailer was actually decent and entertaining. But I guess I'll still download and watch Eclipse cause it looks so damn funny. I love unintentional comedies.

  10. I wonder if lines like "I will fight for you until your heart stops beating" would sound better if coming from a better actor.

Also, a werewolf vs. vampire movie should at least have some action in it. Even a little bit in the trailer. Something happen!

I am happy I am not a teenage boy because I have too much personality and not enough abs to be interesting to teenage girls these days.

Don't be so vitriolic against it. The simple fact is that porn makes lots of money. Even porn for conservative girls who don't know anything about sex. Which, of course, is what Twilight is. "Deep Throat" made lots of money in its day. Now it's Twilight. It's the natural order of things.

And it's pretty damn hilarious to watch.

  12. The whole thing just looks gloomy and depressing. I don't see how anyone could get any enjoyment out of watching it. Apparently this book has some sort of "epic" battle between Edward and Jacob, so why wouldn't they put some of that in the trailer to try to expand their audience to people that aren't into sappy melodramatic teen angst. They must still be working on the crappy CGI…

    • LouAnn

Because that's what it is a sappy melodramatic teenage love story. You or any of the rest don't need to like it. You are NOT the intended audience. And no, there is no epic battle between Edward and Jacob. The battle is between Victoria's new-born vampires and the Cullens teamed up with the wolves.

I don't think there is any point in promoting it for other demographics. After two movies and 4 books, people either love twilight or hate it, a trailer is not going to change that. The large demographic is already there and the purpose of the trailer is to get them excited (they would get excited regardless of how good the trailer is) for the movie and also for the New Moon DVD which comes out in a week or two.

Looks like the same kind of laugh riot the first two were.

    absolutely terrible just plain terrible

  15. LouAnn

Yes, I agree it's a crappy trailer, but, regardless, you know I'm going to go see it. I've read the books….against my will, I feel I need to add. But once it sucked me in, there was no turning back it's like a drug and it applies to the movies as well. I HATED Twilight, but New Moon was one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen. Hell of a lot better than the Harry Potter films. Those abortions are mere caricatures compared to J.K.Rowling's magnificent stories.

    • angel

I have to disagree with you on that one, LouAnn. The Harry Potter adaptations are much more substantial and entertaining, as are the books. That's not to say that I haven't read the Twilight series, because I have. And my inner 12 year old quite enjoyed them. But the movies don't work like the Harry Potter movies for a few reasons, one of them being THE SCRIPT. Melissa Rosenberg has sucked all of the interesting, more believable bits out of it, going for teen swoon instead of plausible story line (ie, Bella and Edward running through the woods, looking ridiculous in the 2nd one). I dunno. I just come out of Harry Potter movies feeling like I've seen a decent film, whereas I come out of the Twilight films thinking that I've wasted 2 more hours of my life. That being said, I guess I know what I'll be doing June 30th.

    • "One of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen"

      Wow!

You realize that a lot (if not most) movies are based on books, right? That would mean that you think New Moon is one of the best movies you have ever seen. Just saying…

Let me clarify. HP are better books thus better films on the whole than the Twilight series as 'angel' has said. But….and this is a big BUT. The adaptation of the book New Moon was good. It cut what needed to be cut, it changed things that needed to be changed without damaging the heart of the story. It wasn't perfect, I'd have done a few things different. I agree with Angel, it lacked in a few places. I said what I said because I've read the book and I felt good leaving the theatre as a reader. I'm not saying that New Moon was 'the best movie' I've ever seen, only that it was far better at the book to movie tranformation. I've seen far better films, but the difference is THIS, IF, their source material was a book, in most cases I haven't read it. So saying NM was the best adaptation I've seen, isn't, by far, saying it was the best movie. It certainly was not.

The adaptations of the Harry Potter books (aughhhh!!!) on the other hand are painful for me. Especially, in the hands of David Yates. I leave the theatre pissed off. I hated 'The Order the Phoenix' with a burning passion. The Half-Blood Prince was a joke and that hurt, because HBP was my favorite book in the series. The HP movies are just a collection of pretty scenes, the heart and soul has been sucked out of them. We are left with so little information, especially the Yates films, that I don't know how anyone who hasn't read the books has a clue of what is going on in these films. And even if they THINK they know, they're probably wrong. Sigh….I could go on and on, but this is an 'Eclipse' threat, so I will stop.

Go see 'Up in the Air'. You might learn something!

Posted On March 12th, 2010 at 4:35 pm in reply to LouAnn.
      • LouAnn

I did. 'Up in the Air' was on my 'hit list', but its stupid limited release screwed me. By the time it FINALLY arrived in 'the armpit of the nation' (that's SC if you didn't know) other films got in the way. So, I rented it from Netflix. I liked it. It was a good film, but not at an 'oh, wow, what an awesome film'.

Oh hell no, Rachelle Lefevre should have not been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard, she looks totally wearing a wig.

Probably break the opening weekend record, but I guess It'll end at $300M

    • I don't think it will break the opening weekend record for two reasons. One, it's got more competition in the summer than in the November months. With direct competition for teenage boy dollars with The Last Airbender, Eclipse probably won't be able to run away with the box office. And two, and this is the primary reason actually, it's opening on a Wednesday. Wednesday openings tend to stunt the total opening weekend. It will open large, but won't take the opening weekend record. (For the record, I am predicting that Iron Man 2 will break opening weekend record)

Bryce Dallas Howard looks too much of a good girl to be believable as an evil vampire. Based on looks alone that is. She's a good actress though so I'm hoping she'll pull it off. I really really hope David Slade has had some say in the story although I'm pretty sure this will turn out to be another New Moon…

  18. ...........

i hope david slade will do a good job in this film

  19. Julie

I think it looks incredible and I can hardly wait to see it!!

  20. I hate it when people say "OH IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP!!! THIS IS SO GAY!!!"..Seriously, fuck you and your pompous ass..The makers of this series doesn't expect you to watch this film..Idiottic pretentious basterds…

  21. I can see that its mostly guys commenting… But you will actually be suprised that Eclipse and Breaking Dawn will be the better out of the four. Plus this is just the first trailer to release, they will have about 2-3 more later on. not all the friends are idiotic teen girls, but beyond that into 30's and 50's.

  22. marym

I think that this trailer looks great and I can't wait to see the movie. They are going to have another 3 or 4 more trailers later on, so they are sure to show more action. I agree that not all Twilight fans are teen girls……there are a tremendous number of Twilight Moms and Twilight Grandmoms.
