Or maybe that idiot from 'Forbidden Kingdom'...

Don't you like my play on words in the headline there? I have no idea how Patrick Fugit's name is pronounced, but I see it and think Fugg-It. What fun!

There is only one way to completely ruin the Spider-Man franchise… watch Spider-Man 3. However, if that wasn't enough for you there are two other options… make Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5. As if that wasn't enough there are now two more reasons to watch it crash and burn… Patrick Fugit and most definitely Michael Angarano.

Latino Review is reporting that Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5 are moving full steam ahead and if Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spider-Man is no longer an option, two names have surfaced as potential replacements with one apparently the front-runner.

LR's primary candidate is Patrick Fugit of old school Almost Famous fame. Fugit isn't a bad option, at least he can act.

The other name rumored is Michael Angarano who most recently embarassed himself in The Forbidden Kingdom. Just the mere mentioning of his name and a movie title makes me instantly believe the movie is going to be bad. I have seen Angarano in two films (Sky High and Forbidden Kingdom) and he is yet to show me anthing resembling talent.

Here's the thing about this rumor; these are only names producers Laura Ziskin and Grant Curtis are tossing around. There have been no offers and the LR article doesn't even mention negotiations/talks/anything. So what is this other than a bunch of online chatter and an attempt to say, "First"? Really, it is nothing, but I was bored and this is the scoop.

Tomorrow I expect Shia LaBeouf's name to be tossed in the mix.

I agree, I really don't think they should make a 4 and 5, plus making them wihtout Tobey is like WTF. I think they should wait about 5 or 6 years and then reboot the series with a different direction.

says here that that's all BS & sony's not replacing Toby in 4/5

  3. Well, there are two ways of looking at that comment though.

1.) LatinoReview never said Sony was looking to replace Tobey. They simply said these were people at the top of the list should they need to. Toby isn't signed to my knowledge for a fourth or fifth film, and if he doesn't sign they will need such a list, and to say one exists doesn't sound too far fetched to me. It's just smart business.

2.) What else are they going to say? "Yeah, we sure are getting ready to replace the lead in a billion dollar franchise." Studios never give you the straight story.

Good Points brad, I guess in my haste to be heard I neglected to remember that studios are so fulla'shit that they almost make amodium(sp) obsolete. Alltho I agree w/BeautifulM the series needs a new direction

Exactly. I know most sites were very quick to say how Sony just isn't looking to replace Tobey Maguire, but that is obvious. Of course they aren't looking to replace him, but they sure as shit better have a backup plan should he decide not to return, which is very likely since I am sure he doesn't want to be Peter Parker for the rest of his life.
