Slumdog's Freida Pinto Starring in Woody Allen's Next Too!
From Mumbai with Boyle to London with Allen
A couple of commenters on my last story about Naomi Watts told me they heard Slumdog Millionaire co-star Freida Pinto was also set to join Woody Allen's next film with Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins. One said they heard it on "The View" and in an online search to find more I found an article at Entertainment Weekly that confirms the news:
She'll be costarring with Josh Brolin and Anthony Hopkins in Woody Allen's next film. (Not the one with Larry David and Evan Rachel Wood, called Whatever Works, which is due this summer.) The role is a major coup for Pinto, considering Allen has directed many actors to Oscar glory, with Vicky Cristina Barcelona's Penélope Cruz being the latest example.
So Dev Patel is already set to join M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender and now Pinto is teaming with Woody Allen. Sounds like the Slumdog duo is doing just fine following the film's massive success including winning eight Oscars last night.
Thanks to Violet and BeautifulM for turning me onto the story.

Working with M. Night Shyamalan next? Oh dear. Someone send him DVD copies of Lady in the Water and The Happening.
It's not like working with Shyamalan on a cartoon adaption counts for something… You know, it's like saying 'Justin Chatwin career is going straight to the top with Dragonball, woo-hoo!!!' =P
But nice move for Pinto. Even if nobody watches Woody's movies (most people never do), she still can add to her career 'worked with The Woody Allen'. If that doesn't put you on the top, it surely gives you a lot of respect.
She's gorgeous, by the way.

Actually, it's nothing like that.
@Leandro Dubost:
Actually, it's the opposite way around. Chatwin just got a trilogy franchise out of it and the guy from Slumdog is only going to make a fool out of himself in a movie he definitely doesn't belong in (no offense; just not for him, and bad casting).
Dragonball Evolution is based off "The greatest action cartoon ever made," and will be at least a moderate sucesss, provided american people aren't too stupid to understand it like they were The Golden Compass…
There is going to be a TRILOGY of that Dragonball mess?? Oh, and The Golden Compass bombed not because "American people were too stupid to get it" but for the simple reason that it was terribly mutated from the original book and just plain sucked. It would've underperformed even if it hadn't been for all the controversy.
As for the topic, uh..a role in a Woody flick is great for any upcoming actress and to act opposite Brolin and Hopkins even better. So great for Freida, I guess?
@leandro dubost u just got shut down haha.
Pinto had a brief role in SLumdog and her acting was not anything more than average. So I dont get the big deal with this lady, oh wait, she just happened to be part of the biggest (and most overrated) movie of 2008.
This seems a little unfair, as they were the only two in the film that seemed to have no real acting talent. Let's see more roles for the rest of the cast, not Freida and Dev.
