Fox 2000 Acquires 'Darkness'
Scott Free Productions set to tackle six-part series.
There appears to be a wealth of "the next J.K. Rowling" sightings going on. First there was "Shadowmancer" and "Wormwood" author G.P. Taylor and now Michelle Paver seems to be the next with the title, and I guess the fact that she is female gives her a one-up on the Brit Vicar Taylor.
I would also guess the next logical reason would be the fact that her six-part children series, "Chronicles of Darkness" has just been sold to Fox 2000 with Ridley Scott and Erin Upson attached to produce.
Reports are that Paver could receive as much as $4 million from the deal, but currently only the first book in the series, "Wolf Brother" has been optioned, for $250,000 against $1 million, with the other books yet to be negotiated.

The second book in the series, "Spirit Walker," is due out in the U.K. in September and the U.S. in 2006.
As for the plotline of the books, the series is set 6,000 years ago and follows the 12-year-old Torak as he and his wolf companion try to save the world from evil forces.
