Let me just say first, any crime drama that comes out this season, will be automatically brought up against "American Gangster" released Nov. 2. So maybe it is the anticipation of that movie that makes "We Own The Night" so disappointing.
I was really looking forward to the movie, judging from the actors involved. However, they all seemed to play 2-D excuses for cops and robbers. I understand that the movie was focusing on the break-down of a family, but you can't forget it's a crime movie. Certain things are expected and they were not delivered.
The scary dark violent scenes were instead laughed at because of the incredibly cheesy dialouge. Overall I was very mad that I can't get those 2 and a half hours back for sitting in that theater.
I do feel bad for Wahlberg and Pheonix, not only did they star but also produced this film. But perhaps more time should have been taken with the script and story.
