I went into Hostel expecting something, but not so much that it got killed if it wasn't what I made the film out to be. Basically, if it wasn't the Hostel the audience hyped over. The tale of pure torture. This was, and I hate to say, but far from it. It's start off slow and calm. It pulls you in and lets you really experience and get to know the characters. You see them search for chicks while smoking and drinking the night away in Amsterdam, all the way to Bratoslava in hopes of finding fresher, more gorgeous ladies. A little deeper now. There's Paxton. He's the guy most might relate to. He's the party animal in all of us, and he's the guy who just wants to have a good time and include his best buds in on it. Then there's Oli, the Icelandic one. He's raunchy, rude, and I might add.. not too funny. I think he was there to give the trio a more round shape. Lastly, Josh. I related to Josh the most because he can't seem to get over a girl and just wants to have a good time without going too far into it. The gore factor. The viewers felt the gore wasn't what they had expected, but if you look deeper into it, there seems to be quite alot there. Mostly in little places, but reigns over all in the bigger depictions of torture. All very brutal and original, in my minds eye at least. Sex. Wow, I gotta give it up.. Eli.. you did it with this baby. What Cabin Fever took a teaspoon of, Hostel took a pitcher of. There's hot girls around every corner, some topless. I got one word for ya: SPA. Two words, actually.. TOPLESS SPA. Girls galore. It's unbelievable. The guys can relate to this bad boy. The conclusion? Hostel did the job it was mean't to do. It gave me good acting, good music, gore by the bucketful, tasty ladies, and it's barebone story. Check it out, see it for yourself.
