Dont let the box office numbers fool you. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is false advertisement to the fullest. Everyone was expecting a horror movie....THIS IS NOT A HORROR MOVIE!! I Fed in to the trailer but the movie is mainly a courtroom battle with about 12 minutes of the actual exorcism. Ok for a courtroom movie but fails horribly as a horror movie. Not worth your 9 bucks. Wait til it comes out on video definately.

I just purchased the movie. Emily Rose is a very well written script in that it stayed away from the ""BOO"" and stayed within the debate. One of the biggest helps that modern man has done to further the quest of the ""evil one"" is to insist that evil does not exist. Just as ""The Exorcist"" was based on a true story of a boy in the New England corner of the United States around the year 1949, this, too is based on a true story of a young girl. I enjoyed very much the fact that movie remained in a courtroom and did not center around the scare, because it gave me a feeling of being in the great debate, watching the players in the courtroom act out the very issues of ""the darkness trying to overcome the light"". To me, it showed that just because a person goes to church and ""reads"" their Bible does not make them spiritual - or one that I would ask a spiritual question to. Jesus did lovingly warn the world around Him then, as now, that just because you call ""Lord, Lord"" will you enter Heaven. I really liked the movie, and if you would like to read a very good book, try Malachi Martin's book ""Hostage to the Devil"". Remember, ""...our battle is NOT against flesh and blood, but against the darkness, the principalities of this world"".
