I am not going to tell you what Revenge of the Sith is all about - there has been so much written about it. So let me get this out of the way first. Ever since George Lucas took over the directing and writing of the Star Wars movies - beginning with Phantom Menace, the movies have been awful and boring. The dialogue especially seems to have been written by a Grade 9 student. This would be insulting a Grade 9 student as I know some of them and they can write much better stuff than this. The direction is aimless and meandering, and definitely needs to be reined in. As I was sitting and watching Revenge of the Sith, there were times when I kept saying to the screen, ""Let's move on already."" A good story was needed to keep one's attention focused. Empire Strikes Back - oh yes!!! I am sure Lawrence Kasdan (a marvelous writer), who does not seem to be doing much of anything these days, would have been readily available, George. Another disappointment - the John Williams score. The music seems to have lost the gusto so prevalent in all the Star Wars movies. There is the usual Star Wars theme. But beyond that there are no heroic themes similar to the ones from Phantom Menace. For the ""final"" episode, one would have expected heroism, zest and vigor in the music. Now. The saving grace as always in the Star Wars movies are the special effects. As with the others, Sith is gorgeous to look at. The special effects are mind-boggling. The opening scene is staggering. One feels transported to another world. There is so much going on that more visits to the film is needed. (I will wait for the DVD.) The acting is average. The two highlights are Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid. McGregor and McDiarmid delight in their roles. More so McDiarmid. McDiarmid brings a slyness to his role - I enjoyed the way he maneuvers Anakin to the dark side, and the way he plays all concerned. With his delicious smile, he parries and thrusts (with panache) to get what he wants. An outstanding performance. Hayden Christensen was a mistake for Anakin. Christensen is so wooden in his performance. Anakin being one of the central characters, an actor with more life was needed. I would have given this movie a D, if it were not for the awesome special effects, and Ian McDiarmid's performance. Both are things to be savored.

Revenge of the Sith is the 3rd and final prt of the epic Star Wars saga. Although not as fun-filled and cute as the Original Saga, this one has been targeted for a newer generation. Revenge of the Sith ends the saga in a pefect way elimating all the loose ends on this particular saga. In this last movie, the story takes place 3 years after the events of the Clone Wars, the movie starts in all out battle above Coruscant, Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-awn Kenobi lead a rescue misson to save Chanceler Palpatine, but their action will soon have dire consequences on the war, the republic and Anakin Skywalker. The ultimate question here: How does Anakin Skywalker become Darth Vader? Well, it's all here. Here's the good side: -Best episode of the prequel saga; -Excellent especial effects; -great storyline, it all makes sense now, when you watch the original trilogy; -It features the best Star Wars soundtrack since The Phantom Menace, very dark and tragic; -Most serious and violent of the saga, better not bring the little ones to see this film; -great acting, Christensen is a more beleivable Skywalker and the rest of the cast has greatly improved their acting; -Darth Vader is born; -best lightsaber duels of the entire saga; The downside: -not much here to go on, apart from some minor nitpicks. Overall, a fiting end to the 20-year old saga, make not mistake, it's over. You can pick up this DVD but remember, it's the last one, but keep in mind that this saga will alwasy be with you. Farewell Star Wars and may the force be with you!
