Really???? D+?? Shit, I was excited to see this one. Guillermo DelToro is one of my favorite directors. I'm still going to see it.

If you are interested in seeing it I would definitely check it out. Even though everything I say is true, you may actually like the film for what it is. I obviously did not. :)

2+ hour running time? what movie did you watch? It's less than 2 hours.

Good point, just checked the runtime. I guess I forgot to take into consideration that when the film melted it wasted another ten minutes of my life. However, nitpicking the review and finding only that flaw doesn't make the film any better, especially when it is fixed with a simple edit.

One of the barometers I use to gauge a film's quality is if at any point during the show I start to feel embarrassed that I convinced someone to accompany me...then it’s a bad movie. Well let me tell you I squirmed quite a bit while my wife and I watched this travesty on opening night. I enjoyed the original "Hellboy" quite a bit. I thought that it brought an interesting twist to the tired super-hero genre. But Hellboy 2 is just awful. The acting is atrocious. Selma Blair and Doug Jones may find it difficult to land any more roles outside of del Toro’s realm after these performances. The frequent lame attempts at humor miss the mark entirely. There is absolutely no real threat to overcome which makes the whole exercise pointless and forgettable. The set design, costumes, makeup and special effects are wondrous but I quickly grew tired of watching what amounts to an over stylized effects reel. My wife and I are huge fans of sc-fi/fantasy films with The Dark Knight high on our must see list so I figured Hellboy 2 would be a safe bet. Man, was I wrong.

I can't tell you how nice it is to hear I am not the only one that had problems with this movie. I just had a friend text me the same sentiments saying, "Abe was lame, the story was lame, effects were cool."
