Columbia Pictures debuted the first four images and the first trailer from Michel Gondry's The Green Hornet based on the 1960s television series. The film stars Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, Jay Chou as Kato and also features Cameron Diaz, Christoph Waltz and Michael Pena.
I have included the trailer directly below followed by the official plot synopsis. You can check out the first four images from the film including a look Inglourious Basterds star Christoph Waltz as "Chudnowsky," the film's villain right here.
The Green Hornet was originally set to hit theaters on June 25, 2010, was bumped to December 22 and finally landed at January 14, 2011 due to the decision to convert the film into 3D. I didn't watch the trailer, but that January release date tells me this one can't exactly be bringing the heat… Tell me, am I right or does this look like a worthy ticket purchase based on this trailer?
Britt Reid is the son of LA’s most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene — until his father mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father’s more industrious and inventive employees, Kato, they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. But in order to do this, they decide to become criminals themselves — protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets.
Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, The Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Rolling in a mobile fortress on wheels and striking the bad guys with Kato’s clever gadgets, The Green Hornet and Kato quickly start making a name for themselves, and with the help of Britt’s new secretary, Lenore Case, they begin hunting down the man who controls LA’s gritty underworld: Benjamin Chudnofsky. But Chudnofsky has plans of his own: to swat down The Green Hornet once and for all.

The trailer looks pretty good, it looks like Seth Rogen may pull it off by playing an action hero..
I forgot to put that it does look like a worthy ticket purchase based off of the trailer..
looks decent i guess ill see it for fun but jay's english is terrible
Hope its more comedy than action, like Pineapple Express was. But this film looks pretty good
Looks pretty fun and definitely better than I expected.
Better than expected; this could be fun.
That looks entertaining. But, it doesnt seem like a movie that needs to be in 3D.
I Agree, it does not need to be in 3D. 3D only looks good in animated features.
thank god it's in 3D, so i won't even be tempted to see it. rogan doesn't normally misstep, as most of his films i find enjoyable…but my expectations are on the low end for this.
looks cool and funny, but i don't know if this would work in 3d
Did they really have to destroy it by saying it will be in 3D ? i really do not like 3D. I saw Toy Story 3 ( in 3D) and it was absolutely pointless in that format.
Groovy. This film looks like a lot of fun + the action scenes were actually pretty cool. I'm definitely intrigued by this film now. Can't wait…but did it really warrent the 3D?
Looks so much better than I thought it would. Maybe Rogen can pull it off.
Wait, I thought the gas gun was used by the Crinson Avenger?
Whatever, this looks interesting, fun, not that original but O.K. I'll wait till I see more of it.
Could be fun, could be funny. Not exciting in the least, but there is the remote possibiity that I may find myself wasting my time watching this in a mall.
lol
It's only a trailer, I know, but I could see myself really enjoying this. The idea of a Michel Gondry directed Seth Rogen action/comedy doesn't role off the tounge but it looks like it could be quite good.
No need for the 3D though, I might see it in regular 2D just out of spite. I'm sure this will make a difference to them.
Mostly I'm interested because Michel Gondry is directing. I really want to see what he does with Seth Rogen.
As someone that saw the original, Seth Rogen needs to turn it down. Plus the Green Hornet was the leader not Bill and Ted's Hero adventures. Don't screw it up if you can't do it right. I'll pass.
Meh. I'll probably end up seeing it since I know a lot of people into comic books (meaning I'll be dragged to see it), but if it's my choice I'll pass.
If this trailer is any indication of the rest of the film I beg, please, take it back to the editing room, remove all traces of Seth Rogen, call it Kato the Green Hornet Prequel or something until a suitable replacement can be found for Rogen. Watching the Bruce Lee torch being passed to Jay Chou appears to be worthy but Seth Rogen clearly does not understand the concept of acting; he merely shows up and reads lines as himself in every single film and in doing so here, trashes what could have been a cool imaging of a classic.
Looks like they should have called the movie Kato.
Any movie geek (like myself) knows that when studios keep changing the release dates or when they release movies in January (and at the end of summer) they are baaaaaad. This doesn't bode well for the movie.
I for one am getting really tired of Seth Rogen's "who cares" acting style.
