First Official Pictures and Plot for 'The Muppets 2'

The gang is going abroad

muppets-2-again-1

Production is underway on The Muppets 2, or as the film will be known, Muppets... Again! and along with the title we have a plot synopsis and the first two official images from the film.

First off, apparently EW interviewed Kermit (yes, the puppet) and he revealed the film's synopsis, which goes a little something like this:

Muppets... Again! finds Kermit and the gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters all over Europe -- Berlin, Madrid, London -- but trouble arises when they run into Kermit's doppleganger, the world's number one criminal, Constantine.

In addition to this information, Ricky Gervais will play the doppelganger's sidekick, Tina Fey will play a Russian prison guard and Ty Burrell will star as an Interpol agent. Ray Liotta's role in the film was not revealed, but the voice of Kermit will not be the voice of the doppelganger so perhaps that's where we'll find Ray.

James Bobin is, again, directing and the film will be released by Disney on March 21, 2014. The second image from the film, courtesy of Total Film, is directly below.

Disappointed in no Waltz or Segel, but I do like Liotta and Gervais

Who is the actor in the phone booth? It could be Gervais again but I can't quite make it out.

I don't think it's Gervais. Just from briefly looking at the cast on IMDb, it looks like Peter Linz (though he is the voice of Walter)

This actually sounds like it could work. I am hesitantly looking forward to this.

The reboot was beyond brilliant and totally got me interested in this franchise. I'm welcoming this with open arms as there has never been a theatrical Muppets film that I didn't like.

The going abroad idea reaks of Holiday on the Busses to me.
