First Look at Weisz in 'Agora' as Well as Several Set Pics
Live from the set of Malta... well... not really live...

New images from Agora, Alejandro Amenbar's follow up to The Sea Inside, have shown up online as Fotogramas.es has a pair of images of Rachel Weisz as the astronomer Hypatia and AirPhoto have eight aerial shots of the set.
Amenbar directed The Sea Inside, which won the Best Foreign Film Oscar, as well as the Nicole Kidman ghost story The Others. Agora, like those other two is co-written by Amenbar, and is set in Roman Egypt in the fourth century telling the story of the legendary astronomer Hypatia (Weisz), trapped in the legendary Library of Alexandria, and her fight to save the old world's wisdom from the religious riots sweeping the streets of Alexandria. Her slave Davus (Max Minghella) wrestles with his yearning for freedom and his professed love for his mistress.
The pic above is one of the shots you can find from the production at Fotogramas.es and the eight preview images below can be found in much larger versions over at AirPhoto.

Can't wait. Love Rachel Weisz and i love any movie Alejandro Amenbar does. their paring looks like its going to be great.
Another film from Alejandro Amenabar! "The Others" was brilliant and creepy. "Tesis" was truly, truly scary. And I still have "Mar Adentro" and "Abre Los Ojos" lined up to watch. This film–"Agora"–has been on my movie list for the past five or six months now, even though it's been completely under everyone's radar. In that respect it's similar to Malick's "The Tree of Life," which has also passed through filming and into post-production without a hiccup or news coverage, but which I've also been waiting for avidly and not-too-patiently.
I WAS AN EXTRA IN THIS FILM, THE SET WAS FANTASTIC,ALL EXTRAS HAD TO WEAR A VERY HEAVY CUSTUME IN THE JULY SUN, THEY ALL DID THEIR BEST IN THE SHOOTING, BUT SORRY TO SAY THEY WERE ALL TREATED VERY BADLY BY THE ORGANISERS.NEXT TIME THIS GREAT DIRECTOR WILL SHOOT AGAIN IN MALTA, HE EITHER HAVE TO FIND ANOTHER LOCAL EXTRA ORGANISOR OR HE PERSONALLY HAVE TO SEE TO THEIR NEEDS
.FROM HERE I WANT TO CONGRATULATE THIS DIRECTOR, AND HOPE THAT THIS FILM WILL BE A SUCCESS
Worked on this film in Malta and have to say that the experience was amazing. Amenobar is a down to earth genius with an amazingly human touch. Looking forward to seeing the film and to working with this great director again.
