MySpace has debuted the above shadowy image of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger in the upcoming remake A Nightmare On Elm Street, which just recently wrapped production and will be heading to theaters on April 16, 2010.
The film is set to have a presence at the 2009 Comic Con where I expect the teaser trailer or some sort of early footage will be featured. The remake of the 1984 horror classic directed by Wes Craven aims to keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Freddy Krueger himself.

He should do a good job. He was fantastic in Little Children…
Even though you can't see his face, he does look freaky. He should make Freddy Krueger scary again. Let's try to avoid stupid one liners and make him terrifying. The way he played Rorschach was awesome. I'm actually looking forward to this remake. Fingers crossed…
This is one remake which it looks like they could get right, top class choice as Freddy! Am a little worried about the supporting cast though, let's wait and see.
Not to shabby as long as they keep Freddy doing what he does best (scare the hell out of us). His voice is my main concern, movies tend to go way off track when replacing old characters with new actors and not pay attention to thier voices.. Keep it as close to the original as possible and everyone should get a little satisfaction from the horror classic.
I really hope they don't try the "let's go back to the roots" approach with this one like they did the worst movie of all time, "Friday the 13th(2009)". I hope it's more along the lines of "A Nightmare On Elm Street 3" rather than the 1st two, but less one lined and campy than Freddy's Dead; The Final Nightmare (the one that would be my favorite if not for the campiness).
I have hope that Jackie Earl Haley will make a good Freddy. Nothing can ever be as bad as the guy who played Jason in the Friday The 13th reboot/remake.
Here's to looking foward a remake of one of the best series in horror history, and to hoping it will be really good…
Seiko, I think the point of doing the remake is to go back to the roots. What's the point of churning out another teen horror that just follows the same formula as every others film since the late eighties?
As much as I enjoyed the 3rd installment when younger, I see it now for what it is, and it is quite ridiculous. If they want to make this remake scary they need to play it straight and be a little more innovative, much like Craven was back when the original was released. If they follow the tone of part 2 then that would make for a potentially scary film. It may be an unpopular opinion but the 2nd film was by far the bleakest, eeriest and scariest of the entire series.
Oh, and if the campiness was taken out of Freddy's Dead, it'd be about 20 minutes long!
What's so bad about the 09 Friday The 13th?
I think friday the 13 was f****** good, I hope the new Nightmare on Elm Street film are very good
tha new freddy looks perdy good. i'm 28. i grew up with, & luv o.g. freddy. we hav all just seen it through tha eyez of tha 1980'z special effects. tha new freddy make-up lookz like an actual burnt victim, which iz HORRIFIC!!!!! u know tha poster, right!? sweet wuts-her-name wuz prom queen, then drunk driver….
Someone wants this Freddy to be darker with no "one liners"?? and less campness? why dont we give him a six pack and pretty eyes too? haha am sorry but I may be alone on this but having grew up with Freddy (80`s kid etc) his humor was spot on…mainly because you agreed with it! haha
