First Look at Mickey Rourke and Megan Fox in 'Passion Play'
Rourke finds his winged angel
Today it was announced Mitch Glazer's Passion Play starring Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox, Rhys Ifans, Bill Murray and Kelly Lynch would make its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and along with the news we get the first official look at the film.
Based on the fest's description of the film, Passion Play is set in the desert and laced with the deep elements of a modern fable. It tells the tale of Nate (Rourke), a down-on-his-luck jazz trumpet player who forms a bond with Lily (Fox), a woman born with wings who has wound up as a carnival sideshow attraction. Together these two damaged souls undertake a turbulent romantic journey while trying to avoid the witty and menacing Happy (Murray), a local gangster.
The film was added to the Special Presentations category. You can get a larger look at the pic above right here.

Megan Fox is history, Ova, done, Toasted.
Not if this film does well, she isn't.
No one is ever done in Hollywood. You should know better than that by now. As far as the film goes, It could go either way but at least they're being ambitious.
Mind you this is a film with Mickey Rourke, everyones favorite comeback kid just a mere two years ago. That should reinforce the notion that no one is ever truly done in Hollywood.
Well she does not know how to act even when it comes saving her life. I don't care about her and I honestly thinks that whenever she gets a role in a movie, it shows her flaws. Unless you guys love seeing her looks rather than her talent in acting
I'm not sure what nerve Megan Fox has hit with some people, but there's a portion of the public that wants to stone her for some reason or another. "Transformers" is to me simply techno-junk, her role is basically nothing, a babe, and I can see why she hates it. I saw "Jennifer's Boby" and I was surprized at the difference – I saw real potential in her – probably most people didn't actually see the movie or else didn't realize much of it was satirical. But I think the fact that she's a beautiful young woman who trash-talks and is non-subserviant to authority is something many people strike back at. I think she has some aces up her sleeve – she is far from stupid. And do I think she's gorgeous – you bet. I'm sure Mickey did, too.
@AJAY
It's understandable to be sceptical but it is rather silly how prejudiced some people are towards Fox. What has she done so far to allow such a definitive judgement as to whether she has talent? Transformers? Here she is in her first serious dramatic role, but since you have already written her off you refuse to even give her a chance. She really can't do right at this point, can she? Just boggles my mind.
First of all, lets not waste our time talking about Fox because I could care less what kind of role she is taking. The only thing I could think of right now is how the hell Mickey Rourke made a huge come back ?!! But thats something we have to learn from, We have to work hard to achieve our goals and dreams. I Think that him being patient and endouring all that crap he faced in his last 10 – 15 years, then climbs up to reach a point where he is right now is outstanding and needed to be recognized.
Yeah, Rourke's comeback is almost on a mythic level. Despite his incredible talent, after he ruined his looks in boxing and reconstructive surgury, he was the butt of jokes and ridicule. He had to comeback with an entirely different face (and voice for that matter) yet with the same name and people remembering his youthful good looks. He almost had to battle his earlier self. What he's done, though, is reach down and touch people's souls (those who have them) and allowed them to share his human struggle. Hollywood is all about the exteriors and glamour – Rourke operates and has succeeded on a much deeper level, against all odds.
I did wonder how long that angle would take to crop up.
Let's hope this is finally the movie that proves that Fox can act. Let's hope that her decision to turn down Transformers 3 was for something.
Can't wait to see this. The script was great.
I read where the great Christopher Doyle did the cinematography. This sounds like a real high risk project that could be great or awful. The fact that it stars Mickey Rourke, of course, puts it on a whole other level – the guy is able to do the impossible in acting, he's fantastic! I have high hopes. Fox has guts to go on the screen with Rourke – if she can hold her own she'll win respect.
Rourke is my favorite actor. The man can steal a scene from Robert DeNiro. He's brilliant. I've heard Bob Dylan may be singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow for this film. Can't wait.
You make me want to go out and watch "Angel Heart" again – Rourke and DeNiro were "heavenly" together – a classic! I hadn't heard that about Dylan. Bob is a great fan of Rourke, you know – he even wrote about his admiration for his acting in his "Chronicles" book (page 213).
Woah hold the phone *gives phone to hold*
You're telling me Rourke and Bob Dylan working on the same film?! Thats even better than Rourke and Springsteen for The Wrestler !
I actually would really love to hear a Dylan cover of somewhere over the rainbow, it's a beautiful song but I just can't listen to it, it's nothing against Garland I understand how important that song is in film history as well as music history, I just hate the wizard of oz so much! But I will listen to Bob's cover, the gravel tone voice will be a interesting change to the same old same old.
Hey, I was wondering where you heard that Bob Dylan might be singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in "Passion Play". That would be great.

Does noone find this a little icky, this romance between Rourke (pushing 60) and Fox (pushing what, 25)?
As far as I'm concerned if both people are consenting adults and they manage to find some kind of happiness, then more power to them. Rourke's real life girlfriend is the same age as Fox. Bogart and Bacall were happy while it lasted. Of Course, ou can have vast age differences and be miserable too.
Very Freudian, all I'm saying. I'm not condemning it. I mean Jack Nicholson has never dated a woman older than 35 in his entire life. It just seems a little strange when men start dating women who are young enough to be their daughters.
