First Look at Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell in 'Betty Anne Waters'
A 2011 Oscar contender if there ever was one...

Once this Oscar season ends and the next one begins, one film I will be looking to add to the 2011 list of contenders will be recent Fox Searchlight acquisition Betty Anne Waters starring Hilary Swank as a single working mother who spends nearly two decades putting herself through law school and tirelessly trying to overturn her brother's (Sam Rockwell) unjust murder conviction. The film also stars Minnie Driver, Melissa Leo, Juliette Lewis and Peter Gallagher and is directed by Tony Goldwyn.
The film isn't due in theaters until Fall of 2010, but today we get our first look at two images from the film. Just click here or on the image above to browse the gallery.
This is the kind of a role that Swank seems to relish in and I expect will earn her the Oscar buzz many (myself included) thought Amelia would before they saw it. I also wouldn't be surprised if Rockwell stands a chance following all the love he received critically for Moon, which didn't turn into an Oscar nomination, but could help his prospects moving forward.

You're spot on about Rockwell's chances being improved by Moon. He wasn't nominated, but he got the next best thing: An Oscar boost for his next great performance.
