Walt Disney Pictures has announced the start of production on their upcoming film Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie in the title role and with that announcement they have delivered the above first look picture of Jolie in costume.
Directed by two-time Oscar-winning Avatar production designer Robert Stromberg, Maleficent is said to tell untold story of Disney's most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 classic Sleeping Beauty, revealing the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora (played by Elle Fanning).
The film co-stars Sharlto Copley (District 9), Sam Riley (On the Road), Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake), Miranda Richardson (The Hours), Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises) and Lesley Manville (Secrets and Lies) and is set to hit theaters in 3-D on March 14, 2014.
