The Fiery Poster for 'The Hunger Games' Debuts
The mockingjay is forged in melted gold
Yahoo debuted the following fiery motion poster for Lionsgate's The Hunger Games based on the first novel of the trilogy by Suzanne Collins.
The film is the first in a trilogy and stars Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone) as Katniss Everdeen, a 16-year-old living in the post-apocalyptic country of Panem. Every year, a boy and girl are chosen from each of the country's 12 districts to fight each other to the death until only one remains. Katniss is from one of the poorest districts, but she is skilled in archery and hunting, which makes her a fierce competitor. Katniss wears a mockingjay pin — the flaming symbol on the poster — which is a sign of rebellion against Panem's oppressive government.
Lionsgate will release the feature on March 23, 2012.

So far I've read the first two books. It's awesome, juvenile and totally addictive literature. I can't wait to see the movies.
The third is the best (and bloodiest) in my opinion.
Good to know! It wasn't released in Brazil yet. I'm thinking about buying an import, I'm anxious to know how it ends.
Ughh. Me an pretty much everyone I know hate the third one.
IF YOU"VE READ THE BOOKS are they violent/ course and graphic (say similar to battle royale) or do they read like a PG movie like this will be rated?
They're pretty violent, and the studio has said they're aiming for a PG-13, not PG.
I was surprised how violent the book was for a YA series, but can't imagine it be as violent as Battle Royale (which I haven't read, but know a lot about). I am hoping they don't go PG because I would rate the books an M15+ (Australian rating scale)
LET's NOT KID OURSELVES AIMING FOR A PG-13 From a PG IS not saying much .. Trust me a PG-13 movie can be intense and well done but when you edit a book that would obviously be an R rated movie and tone it down that much it's going to lose some impact.. I do want to see the movie so I'm going to avoid the book to save disappointment and comparison..
Well perhaps if this first movie is a fantastic film despite its PG-13 rating, we'll get an Extended Unrated Cut of the film on DVD.
I know absolutely nothing about this series, however, everyone seems very excited about this film. I think I'm gonna try to read the books before the film's release.
