Universal has managed to keep details on the upcoming sixth installment in the Fast and Furious franchise rather quiet, but today they released the official synopsis for what will be called Fast & Furious 6.

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson lead the returning cast of all-stars as the global blockbuster franchise built on speed races to its next continent in Fast & Furious 6. Reuniting for their most high-stakes adventure yet, fan favorites Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges and Elsa Pataky are joined by badass series newcomers Luke Evans and Gina Carano.

Since Dom (Diesel) and Brian's (Walker) Rio heist toppled a kingpin's empire and left their crew with $100 million, our heroes have scattered across the globe. But their inability to return home and living forever on the lam have left their lives incomplete.

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Building on the worldwide blockbuster success of Fast Five and taking the action, stunts and narrative to even greater heights, Fast & Furious 6 sees director Justin Lin back behind the camera for the fourth time. He is supported by longtime producers Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel, who welcome producer Clayton Townsend back to the series.

The first trailer for the film will premiere this Sunday during the Super Bowl and I'll be sure to have it online for you as soon as it arrives. Fast & Furious 6 hits theaters on May 24.

Loved Fast Five and can't wait for the sixth installment. This comes out the same weekend as The Hangover Part III, so that's gonna be one helluva weekend at the theaters.

The Fast and Furious franchise was reborn with Fast 4 (Fast and Furious) and since then has been on a roll! Can't wait for 6!

p.s. Remember when Vinny said he'd never do sequels? lol This will be the fifth Fast/Furious movie he's been in and later this year will be his third riddick film lol

Damn after reading this synopsis I just have a bad feeling for this, I know the action and driving will probably be amazing but I feel like they've run out of actual story and are running on fumes. Lessons from any sequel if you have to bring back dead characters you know it's a bad sign. Just saying hopefully Im wrong because this series has been mostly amazing.

    Aw, no Jason Statham???

I'm not gonna read the plot synopsis but I am excited for the 6th installment because I absolutely loved Fast 5. The best part is its the same crew as Fast 5 and that crew was likable from the beginning they showed up on screen. They make a great and fun team.

Fast Five was surprisingly good, hopefully this follows suit.

Even the Police Academy franchise knew when to call it a day.
