Fez as Ponch?
Do we really need a CHiPs movie?
Dukes of Hazzard is one thing, but a "CHiPs" movie with "That '70s Show" foreigner Fez (a.k.a. Wilmer Valderrama) reprising the role as Ponch, originally played by Erik Estrada, seems a bit silly.
Apparently Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove have already been brought onboard to pen the script based on the popular late '70s and early '80s motorcycle cop drama, which followed the pursuits of California highway patrol officers Francis Llewellyn Poncherello and Jon Baker.
Just like Dukes, Warner Bros. Pictures is behind this one and just as expected this isn't going to be the straight-forward drama the show was, they are going to spoof it up much like they did with Starsky & Hutch as Variety tells us it "will be much more lighthearted" as it is "being described as a contemporary action comedy."
The role of Jon Baker is yet to be cast and a director is not yet in place either.
