Question: How
nervous are you about
Serenity opening?
Joss Whedon: I'm actually pretty calm. I
am being medicated right now, heavily, to keep me
that way. I got really nervous when I realized ultimately
I have no idea how this movie is going to do. I believe
if people see it they will like it, but I have no
idea if they will see it, and if they don't see it
how can they like it? So I panicked and freaked out.
Then I sort of realized it's out of my hands. I believe
in the film. I loved making it. I loved what we came
up with. I'm really proud of all of my actors so
that's going to have to sustain me. Talk to me the
morning of the 30th, I'll be hiding in the bathtub
with a hat on.
Question: Do
you have ideas for the sequels?
Joss: It's very sweet to mention the word
sequel. Obviously that's the way my brain works,
I continue to tell stories, I've written sequels
in my head for movies other people made all the time.
I had a great idea for The Fly II, before
they made it. I never told anybody, but it was really
cool. I love the Serenity universe and I love
these people and would jump at the chance to do it
again. It's a trilogy if you make two that are so
good there's a third. That was the only way I could
think about it. I had to not think about where it
came from with the series or think about where it
may go with a franchise. I had to make this one thing
an experience worth having, the rest will either
fall into place or it won't. Now that I've finished
it and marketed it I think about it all the time,
but I don't tell anybody that, except just now.
Question: Nathan,
you're in a really disgusting science fiction movie
called Slither.
Can you talk about that?
Nathan Fillion: It's wonderful; I play an
anti-hero, a role I'm comfortable with. He doesn't
know what to do when the shit hits the fan. These
are people who are blissfully unprepared for attacks
and saving the world. There's some blowing up. There's
some nasty, some slimy. There's a lot of prosthetics.
We leaned away from the CGI and leaned towards the
prosthetics as an homage to the horror movies of
yesteryear. Our creator/director James Gunn said
it will be the last time he does that.
Question: What
do you the rest of you guys have coming up?
Adam Baldwin: I was on a show called "The
Inside" that was cancelled, so back pounding
the pavement. I play the younger, better looking
brother of Ernest Borgnine in Poseidon.
The character's name is Rogo.
Summer Glau: I just got back from Romania.
I finished a film called Mammoth. It's a sci-fi
comedy. It's going to be released on the Sci-Fi channel.
But it's a really different character!
Sean Maher: I have an independent film coming
out called Living to the End. And I just did "Ghost
Whisperer". I'm a ghost. It was a lot of fun.
Jewel Staite: I did "Stargate Atlantis".
I'm not sure if I'm going back, but other than that
I want to do something completely opposite, maybe
a romantic comedy. I'm open to be challenged.
Question: What
would you have your character do in the future?
Jewel: I think Kaylee should have a baby!
Sean: We always talk about what new characters
could come on…
Adam: I think we should meet Jayne's parents.
Question: Joss,
can you talk about Wonder Woman at all?
Joss: Briefly, I'm writing it, having the
time of my life, and no it's not cast.
Question: Will
a sequel affect Wonder Woman at all?
Joss: That is a question I hope to have
to answer.
Question: There
is expectation that your two characters (Fillon & Baccarin)
will hook up.
Nathan: Behind the scenes? Remember "Moonlighting"?
If we ever hook up I hope it's on my death bed.
Morena Baccarin: You don't want to kiss
me do you?
Nathan: I do, but not for the sake of the
show.
Morena: Good answer.
