Over the past few years, writer/director Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up) has shown that nothing—not even losing your virginity or the miracle of childbirth—is sacred. About his third film behind the camera, he says, “I’m trying to make a very serious movie that is twice as funny as my other movies. Wish me luck!” Apatow directs Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen and Leslie Mann in Funny People, the story of a famous comedian who has a near-death experience.

Early word on Judd Apatow's is not exactly what you would expect. Sure, people think it is funny, but actual Oscar talk has surfaced including Best Actor chances for Adam Sandler and Best Original Screenplay for Apatow. Sweet, brilliant and amazing have been tossed around to describe it along with comparisons to work from the likes of James L. Brooks. That's enough for me to be interested if not enthused.

Funny People was directed by Judd Apatow and the MPAA has rated it R for language and crude sexual humor throughout, and some sexuality.

The cast includes Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen, Leslie Mann, Eric Bana, Jason Schwartzman, Jonah Hill, RZA, Aubrey Plaza and Aziz Ansari.
