Leading up to the events of "X-Men," "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" tells the story of Wolverine's epically violent and romantic past, his complex relationship with Victor Creed, and the ominous Weapon X program. Along the way, Wolverine encounters many mutants, both familiar and new, including surprise appearances by several legends of the X-Men universe.

This is when I love being outside the realm of fanboy adulation. I have never read a single comic book so sticking to the mythology created in the Marvel universe means nothing to me and I think the trailers for Wolverine look like a lot of fun. It's not going for the Dark Knight serious audience and shouldn't be judged as if it were. Here's hoping for the best.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine was directed by Gavin Hood and the MPAA has rated it PG-13 for intense sequences of action and violence, and some partial nudity.

The cast includes Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Danny Huston, Lynn Collins, Ryan Reynolds, will.i.am, Taylor Kitsch, Dominic Monaghan, Daniel Henney and Kevin Durand.
