The first week's feature is obviously Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which had the unfortunate situation of being leaked online several weeks before its release, but news that the film has multiple endings that will be sent out to theaters is likely to up its theatrical profile. The following week sees the return of the crew of the starship Enterprise as J.J. Abrams brings along a group of kiddies to suit up in the skin of the iconic characters known as Kirk, Spock and Uhura... to name a few. Will Star Trek create a whole new generation of Trekkies? We'll find out the weekend of May 8. Next comes the return of the Catholic League's favorite character, Robert Langdon, as Tom Hanks once again plays the Harvard religious expert which he first played in The Da Vinci Code. Angels and Demons is a far better novel than Da Vinci, let's hope the movie manages to do the same. The following weekend could see this summer's box-office winner as Warner Bros. bring the Terminator franchise back to the fold with Terminator Salvation, the most anticipated film of the summer according to RopeofSilicon readers. May rounds out with Pixar's yearly entry with Up, a film that has already earned a lot of early good word-of-mouth (surprise) and will likely be yet another Pixar success. All-in-all, there are 14 films we are featuring in May. Click on each title for a more detailed description. |
