There is only one way I can see a movie based on the life of painter Thomas Kinkade and his painting "The Christmas Cottage" painting being good, and that would be if it starred Bob Ross and was in fact about Bob Ross and only Bob Ross. Unfortunately Bob passed away and I don't remember ever catching an episode of "The Joy of Painting" with Thomas Kinkade, but I do remember looking at one of his galleries and saying, "Damn, this shit is expensive!"

Of course, Christmas films done right are always worth a watch and with Peter O'Toole and Marcia Gay Harden the talent is certainly in line, let's just hope the story stacks up.

By the way, it took me forever to find a legit Bob Ross clip on YouTube that was not a fake, so enjoy that clip.

The Christmas Cottage, inspired by the early life and art of renowned painter Thomas Kinkade, is the story of how a small community and an aging mentor come to the aid of a family to save the only home they have ever known; and along the way teach a young man the meaning of love, friendship, and what it means to be an artist.
