Favreau Replaces Conran on 'Mars'
Rice Burroughs sci-fi novel gets a new director.
Apparently Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow director, Kerry Conran, has found other things to direct as Jon Favreau has just been tapped to replace Conran on John Carter of Mars for Paramount Pictures.
The film is based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs sci-fi series in which John Carter finds himself suddenly projected to Mars, captive of the savage green men of Thark. With him was Dejah Thoris, lovely Princess of Helium. And between them and rescue lay a thousand miles of deadly enemies and unknown dangers.
Favreau is the third director attached to the project as Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) and Kerry Conran both preceded him.
Favreau recently helmed the sci-fi feature Zathura for Columbia Pictures, which will be release on November 11.
