Even the Old Folks Hate 'Leatherheads'
At least they speak the language...
There isn't something to love about every movie, and while I still grade films on an A+ to F scale I am drastically considering abandoning that way of reviewing and going straight to a "thumbs up/thumbs down" style. Now that films cost $10 – $30, in some cases, to go see an audience doesn't want to spend their money on a movie that even they may remotely like. You want to spend your money on a film and get your money's worth. If that isn't going to be the case then you should stay home or perhaps do something more with your while.
A gave Leatherheads a "D", which is fair and accurate and perhaps generous. However, why did I even leave room for debate and not give it an "F", especially if I know there are some movies that simply have no redeeming qualities? The answer is simple, there are still a few more films out there that I loathe even more than Leatherheads and I must save room at the bottom for the likes of Over Her Dead Body, Stealth and Van Helsing.
I found this video below posted on Hollywood-Elsewhere and it features a couple of old folks called the Reel Geezers and they give their opinion of Leatherheads and it ain't pretty. The best part is when Lorenzo says it would have taken a gun to get him to go see this movie had he not needed to see it for their review. Gotta love the honesty.
