Summit has premiered the first Ender's Game teaser trailer giving you a first look at the feature adaptation of Orson Scott Card's novel from director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) and starring Asa Butterfield (Hugo), Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Abigail Breslin and Harrison Ford.

Set in the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military's next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

Ender's Game doesn't hit theaters until November 1 so you can expect a lot more advertising for this one over the course of the next six months, but check out the trailer below and see what you think of how it's starting out.

First read this book eight years ago and I've been following its road to the silver screen ever since. Beyond excited for this film!

I loved the book, especially the ending. Except for Harrison Ford phoning it in, I'm excited about the cast. The Battle School is very like what I'd imagined.

I've been waiting for 14 years for this movie to come out. I love the style of it, but I'm a bit disappointed that the ending of hte book appears to be in the trailer. The twist might not be mentioned, but I'm getting so tired of the big action finale being spoiled in trailers these days.

Wait! What! Did I forget the ending?

Harrison Ford sounds extremely enthused in the trailer...

I read the book a long time ago, but don't really remember it. It looks okay I guess, at least in terms of sci-fi spectacle.

I liked the book too, but I'm disappointed too that the twist of the book seems to be gone. That was the part I liked best. Looks like they just left it out, in favor of broadcasting the theme from the beginning.

    Nice teaser.

Kingsley really knows how to deliver a line which is more than you can say for the charisma vacuum that is Harrison Ford plus it'll be great to see Hailee Steinfeld again, she stole the show in True Grit. As for the book, i had never heard of it, i dont get out much.

I'm currently reading the book, and it's not quite lining up to my incredibly high expectations. I'm looking forward to some of the battleroom, and game scenes. I'm just not sure about Gavin Hood as a director.
