Empire Magazine Covers 'The Hobbit'
Does Gandalf look different to you?
Empire Magazine has debuted their latest cover for their August issue which includes a shot of Ian McKellen as Gandalf as well as another look at Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit.
The mag says to look closely at Gandalf's costume for "subtle differences" compared to his Lord of the Rings attire. I don't have that good a memory (even though I just watched the Lord of the Rings extended editions on Blu-ray last week) to know what the differences are, but maybe you can help me out. Jackson is quoted in the brief article accompanying this cover saying the following as Empire was on set just a few weeks into the start of production:
"The tone is actually the part of it I'm enjoying the most," he laughs, casting a fond eye upon his rabble of exotic dwarves, clattering about set like they own the place. "They have a healthy disregard for the icons of Middle-earth."

Production on The Hobbit is underway in New Zealand with both films shooting at the same time. The first one, referred to as The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will hit theaters on December 14, 2012 and second film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release on December 13, 2013.

cool
I really wish that EMPIRE was a U.S. magazine. Unfortunately because its a UK publication, we Yanks have to pay around $75.00/year for 12 issues. MADNESS, I SAY! MADNESS!
My excitement level for the HOBBIT is now through the roof. I've been devouring every article, audio clip, interview and sets pics I can find. I feel like its 2000 all over again. This is gonna be a great film series, I can just feel it.
Thems the facts
I agree, it's going to be an awesome journey up till the release day and beyond. BTW, for more HOBBIT news and message-boards etc, I encourage you to check out theonering.net
