Emmerich is a Neanderthal
Roland bringing back the caveman.
Variety is reporting that The Day After Tommorrow helmer, Roland Emmerich, has been set to direct 10,000 B.C. for Columbia Pictures.
Emmerich collaborated with composer Harald Kloser on the script, which is classified as a drama as it follows three stages in the development of primitive man by centering on a 21-year-old who lives among a primitive tribe that survives by hunting a mammoth each year as the herd migrates through the tribe's homeland. Shooting will begin in February in Africa.
Apparently Variety describes the film to be along the same lines as Mel Gibson's Apocalypto saying that "both films are set in an obscure period and will not be star-driven, but have tentpole aspirations." The big difference is that in Gibson's Apocalypto will be filmed entirely in a Mayan dialect while Emmerich will film 10,000 B.C. in English and will eat at McDonalds when hunting doesn't go so well. I added that last part.
