It was previously rumored "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke was the front-runner for the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, the latest attempt to resuscitate the franchise and today it was confirmed she will indeed play the character originated by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron's 1984 original.

Thor: The Dark World helmer, Alan Taylor, who previously directed six episodes of "Thrones" for HBO, will direct the picture, which already landed Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as Sarah Connor's son, John. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return as his iconic cyborg character, though plot details are nil.

The film is set for a July 1, 2015 release and is already planned as the first film in a new trilogy. Let's just hope they make three actual films, and not three chapters entirely dependent on the sequel to exist and be appreciated as a singular project.

Too bad Michael Clarke Duncan passed away.

Yeah and let's hope Alan Taylor gets a script to work with that actually has something to say. Doubtful, but you never know.

I feel like Brie Larson dodged a bullet.

I don't care whom they cast but at least it should have an uncompromising script and an R-rating. I just hate how all studios are watering down content for a PG-13 rating. It may be good for superhero films but not for a Terminator film. Else we get an abomination like Salvation.

She does bear a vague resemblance to Linda Hamilton.

This'll make two Game of Thrones actresses that have played the role, with Lena Headley on the show.

The best thing that this tired franchise could do is get away from the whole Connor family. There has to be some other story to tell in the Terminator universe.
