Elf was an amazing box-office success, grossing over $220 million worldwide making a sequel almost inevitable, but you can't make elf without Will Ferrell as Buddy can you?
Nope, and that looks to be the deciding factor as New Line is in negotiations to make a reported $20 million-plus against gross points deal for Ferrell to star in Elf 2, but won't go any further with the idea unless a deal is reached with the much-in-demand star.
Toby Emmerich of New Line told Variety, "We're only going to make this if it's with Will."
At least they have the right idea.
