"Top Gun" - HD DVD Review
REVIEWED BY Brad Brevet
A bit of high definition descrimination here as the HD DVD edition of Top Gun carries none of the goodies the 2-disc collector's edition carried. Nope, no audio commentary, no documentaries, no music videos, no trailers and no featurettes. Nope, nada, and the DVD edition also carried a DTS and Dolby Digital soundtrack, so to say there is any reason to pick up this HD DVD edition over the collector's edition DVD would be rather silly considering the only bonus here is only a slightly improved picture. By the way, that picture can hardly be considered a major improvement.

I guess the largest reason I am disappointed in this HD DVD is because I was so impressed by the 2-disc DVD. However, since I now own both I will be far more likely to watch the HD DVD edition when I decide it is time for a bit of "Danger Zone" nostalgia, but outside of that if I was to recommend an edition to buy it would certainly be the special edition DVD since the new featurettes and docs are a lot of fun.
