Domestic Box-Office Total
Taxi is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated
PG-13.
The running time is 1 hr. 37 mins..
I can't believe they would even pass this off as theater worthy, let alone DVD worthy as Jimmy Fallon offers up the comedic genius of a fruit fly and Latifah's tough-girl act is as believable as she is as a one-time Oscar nominee.
Taxi is a boring and monotonous attempt at humor and non-stop action as the accident prone cop Washburn (Fallon) and the fast-talking cabbie Belle (Latifah) end up hot on the trail of some supermodel's turned bank robbers.
Okay, so the story isn't necessarily supposed to be believable and neither is the fact that Belle is driving around in a suped up Crown Victoria that brings back memory of "Knight Rider" and the season in which Kitt got his alterations.
As far as this DVD is concerned there is an extended version of the movie available, but who wants an additional seven minutes of this bust? Also, Tim Story must have been dragged in kicking and screaming to do his director's commentary and then there is a fistful of deleted scenes and featurettes to wet your whistle, all of which are a waste of time except for the two and a half minute feature on the gorgeous bank robbers, led by supermodel Gisele Bündchen, which is really the only reason to watch this movie in the first place.
I can't stress enough how much you should not purchase this DVD, my dog and I are already playing catch with it.
