Strange Wilderness is a Paramount Home Entertainment release and is rated R.

The running time is 1 hr. 27 mins..

Strange Wilderness is a thoroughly unfunny movie that is not worth your time. It is not terrible in the First Sunday way that fills you with the kind of righteous anger that makes writing bad reviews easy and fun. Instead, Strange Wilderness achieves the kind of unfunny that does not enrage you, and just does not make you laugh. My taste and sensibilities never felt offended by the movie, but I can tell you for a fact I did not laugh once.

The plot, revolving around the mishaps that follow the crew of a nature documentary, feels weak, and does little to justify its supposedly funny situations. This wouldn't matter if the jokes were funny, but they unfortunately do not deliver. Steve Zahn and Jonah Hill are usually reliably funny, but never even manage to rise above Justin Long, who seems to think long hair and a bong will automatically make his character funny. They didn't put the effort in, so neither should you.

Unsurprisingly, the special features seem to have been put together with about as much thought as the movie. Some deleted scenes and a featurette are of no value, and the only good thing I can say about them is they are short, and didn't waste too much of my time.

Strange Wilderness feels like the work of a bunch of friends that got high, watched Animal Planet, and then took a camera to their backyard. Brilliant to those involved, but worthless to anyone else. It's a triumph of mediocrity, just like this review.
