South Park - The Complete Sixth Season (DVD)

With Kenny "out of the way" "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker seem a bit lost as Season Six isn't exactly up-to-par with the previous seasons, but it still has its fair share of laughs as the show takes on Catholicism, Jon Edward, Jared the Subway guy, Russell Crowe, Star Wars, Spielberg, Lord of the Rings, child abduction, Iraq, and so much more.

Season six comes with three more episodes than did season five, but that doesn't mean much when there are a couple of throw-away episodes in this bunch. Even though Kenny is gone a lot of the season revolves around the thought of Kenny as the boys have initially replaced their orange coat wearing friend with Butters, who in turn is dismissed and becomes Professor Chaos. Butters is then replaced by Tweak, who is far from entertaining and then signs of Kenny begin to sprout up when Cartman mistakes his friends ashes for chocolate milk mix and drinks him down. This encourages an episode where Chef’s mom tries a little of her voodoo magic on Cartman to get Kenny's spirit back and the show really begins to hit its stride again, and even Parker and Stone admit in their mini-commentaries, that there shows get better when they think about them less, which inevitably happens as the season wears on.

This season should not be dismissed however, despite its slow start, there is some classic "South Park" in here especially when Mr. Garrison returns to school and brings Mr. Slave with him and the lovable gerbil Mr. Lemmiwinks is introduced to the show in The Death Camp of Tolerance. Other great episodes include "The Simpsons Already Did It," "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society" and "Jared has Aides," which takes unrelenting shots at quite possibly the most annoying spokesperson of all time.

Once again the boys only provide mini-commentaries on each episode, which is simply a shame because they are really good. They continually say how they don't have anything to say, but that is far from true. I would just like one time for them to provide a full commentary for at least one episode. Lord knows fans deserved it with Team America and we didn't get it there either.

Overall, this is yet another must own for "South Park" fans. While it isn't the quality of seasons before, season six is still "South Park," and with that, there is simply no comparison.
