First off, this season set is no different than the last few "South Park" DVD sets, which means you are getting the 15 episodes from the seventh season and Matt Stone and Trey Parker mini-commentaries over the first five minutes or so of each episode. And once again I must plead with Parker and Stone, "Please! Give us full commentaries!!" These two are so freaking funny just in their little five minutes that you only wish they would stick around for the full episode. Then again, maybe that is what makes 'em so great.
As for the season, this one has some great episodes. Starting with "Krazy Kripples", an episode in which Jimmy and Timmy decide they are upset at Christopher Reeve for getting all this attention for being cripple even though he wasn't born crippled. So what do they do? They go ahead and start their own gang called... wait for it... The Crips. Well of course there are some problems sure to arise out of this, especially when they come in between the Denver Bloods and Crips.
Another favorite of mine is the episode in which we find out the guys that host "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" are actually crab people and how about "All about Mormons"? An episode in which the Mormon religion is bashed much in the same fashion as was Scientology recently. The one thing I will say about that though, is that almost every episode of "South Park" ends with some moral lesson and for the most part the moral seems to be just let people be, regardless of what the believe. The tradition even continues in "Butt Out" in which opponents of cigarettes are confronted. Then, of course, who could ever forget when Cartman's hand becomes Jenny from the Block and forms an inappropriate relationship with Ben Affleck, that's gold baby... gold.
Overall this season set is another success. I only hope Parker and Stone keep "South Park" going the same way "The Simpsons" keep on rolling. After all, there is a never ending supply of stupid shit human beings do and believe in, so these guys should have material for years to come.
