The Simpsons - The Complete Seventh Season is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated .
It seems with every DVD release of "The Simpsons" there is nothing new to talk about. Yes, there are new episodes, 25 this time around to be exact, but beyond that it is business as usual as the set includes commentaries on every episode, multi-angle animation showcases, illustrated commentaries with "Simpson" animators, original sketches, deleted scenes and once again the multi-language reel in which episode 22 ("Short Films About Springfield") is presented in Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese and German. Beyond that there is a "Homer in the Third Dimension" featurette looking at the episode where we see Homer in computer animation.

I am not saying that any of this is a bad thing; actually it is stellar for "Simpsons" fans and if you compare it to other television DVD releases it puts them to shame. I am simply saying there is nothing new for me to tell you about in regards to whether you should by this season or not. If you are a "Simpsons" fan it is unlikely you are going to skip this season because you felt the episodes were not as good, in fact I am sure you already bought the collector's edition shaped as Marge Simpson's head.

The biggest thing to mention concerning the seventh season is the season opener, which is part two of the season six cliffhanger "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" Beyond that my favorites include "Bart Sells His Soul", "King-Size Homer", "Two Bad Neighbors" and "Homer the Smithers". Fans of animation and the hardcore "Simpson" fans out there are sure to also remember "Treehouse of Horror VI" in which the CGI world of animation was brought to "The Simpsons" and as I mentioned before there is a featurette dedicated to this segment and the best commentary of the bunch is also found on this episode.

On a whole, I know I told you there wasn't a lot new to tell you about the season, but I can tell you that my enjoyment of "The Simpsons" grows with each season. The animation gets better and better, and thanks to overwhelming success they are able to try things such as CGI Homer's, which cost a lot of money at the time, and other ground-breaking storylines, keeping "The Simpsons" at the top of the primetime animation totem pole.
