The Ring - Collectors Set is a Dreamworks Home Entertainment release and is rated PG-13.
With The Ring 2 only days away now DreamWorks is hoping to capitalize on those of you that missed out on the first release of the original The Ring DVD by offering you an added incentive, which is becoming increasingly popular as of late.

Along with your purchase of the original The Ring DVD you will be treated to a special, bonus disc, containing all new special features along with a 16-minute feature titled Rings, which was written by The Ring scribe Ehren Kruger and offers up a go between from The Ring to The Ring 2.

I must have received about three blank tapes in the mail, which is sort of creepy in itself, all of which contained this Rings feature, until finally the bonus DVD arrived, which contains the feature along with the added bonuses that come with this special package.

Overall, most of the time these 'added incentives' really just turn out to be a bunch of crap, and while this one does manage to offer up more than just a couple of extra interviews and a little something here and there I don't think you should be buying this set if you already own the DVD already.

Rings is a good feature, that does give you a little bit of an idea of where The Ring 2 is going with the story and how Samara has been allowed to keep on terrorizing and this package is perfect for anyone that does not already own The Ring on DVD, but for 16 minutes this just doesn't sweeten the deal quite enough.

On top of the Rings feature you also get, trailers from The Ring, The Ring 2 and Ringu along with a look at the cursed tapes form each film. There is also a short look at urban myths and a short section of interviews from The Ring. Other than Rings the big attraction is that it comes with a free ticket to check out The Ring 2 in the theater worth approximately $10.50.

So, if you do the math on this one, the DVD costs roughly $18.89 at Amazon.com, you get a free ticket to The Ring 2, which means the DVD is going to cost you about $8.49. Of course it may cost more or less to see movies where you live and there is tax and shipping to think about, but you get my drift.

Overall, this little extra is worth it, but if you already own The Ring I would skip it, it just isn't worth the extra money.
