Domestic Box-Office Total
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is a Columbia Pictures Home Entertainment release and is rated
R.
The running time is 1 hr. 34 mins..
Just as the first
Resident Evil,
Apocalypse delivers a large number of special features as well as two commentaries, on its way to repeating the success of its predecessor.
Alice is back and this time she has partnered with the sexy Jill Valentine (Guillory) and together they must face a deadly virus as well as the Umbrella Corporation's experiment well-known as the Nemesis.
While
Apocalypse was not as good as the first
Resident Evil it is a satisfying sequel that continues the madness and the mayhem the first film gave us while adding enough new scenarios to keep it interesting.
The DVD boasts over six hours of bonus material, which includes three separate commentaries, 20 deleted scenes, outtakes and a wealth of goodies documenting just how the entire film was made.
Between the three commentaries my favorite was with writer/producer Paul W.S. Anderson and Producer Jeremy Bolt primarily because they are a couple of lively characters and I am a huge fan of Anderson's work. As for the cast commentary with Jovovich, Fehr and Guillory I just wasn't that impressed as Jovovich seems to think she is funny and Oded suffers from the same misconception.
As for the featurettes if you are familiar with those offered on the original
Resident Evil disc these continue along the same lines as they show how they brought the dead to life, how the special effects were done and what it takes to be a
Resident Evil "babe" with Guillory and Jovovich.
This DVD is great action and good zombie killing fun for fans of the first
Resident Evil as well as fans of the
Blade films and the recent
Dawn of the Dead remake.
