Actually, I am not going to make you wait that long, if you already own Pretty Woman and are happy with your copy then stop reading right now and click on something else, this one isn't worth the upgrade, but if you have yet to buy yourself a copy sit back and let me chat this one up for a sec, but not too long, I do have other things to review.
First, for those of you that have been living in a hole, Pretty Woman follows the tale of a prostitute named Vivian (Julia Roberts) and her millionaire savior Edward (Richard Gere). On a fateful night, hooker-girl Vivian is walking the streets and just so happens to come to the rescue of Edward as he is searching for Beverly Hills in his lawyer's Lotus. Fortunately she knows the way and as a result is hired by Eddie to be his 'girlfriend' for the week for the basement bargain price of $3,000, but he would have paid $4,000, hee hee.
The two share laughs, giggle a little, play a little naughty on the grand piano and ultimately get mad at each other and so the story goes... It may be formulaic, but it is a classic as Gere has the bravado and Roberts the smile to make it all work, but this new DVD hardly offers enough to make it worth spending extra dough if you already own a version.
New to this edition is a new commentary by director Gary Marshall (I guess the old one was just too old), a blooper reel, a look at the wrap party where Julia, Gary and Richard do a little singing, a tour of L.A. as Gary Marshall shows you the sights where the movie was filmed and... well, that is it.
The things that didn't change are the 1990 production featurette, the "What Women Do" music video and the theatrical trailer. Missing from the 10th Anniversary Edition are the 15 minutes of bonus footage and the selected B-Roll. So in my opinion, it is a toss-up as to which one you buy, but they are both available from Amazon.com as I type, so pick your poison. I just recommend not both of them.
