Domestic Box-Office Total
Paparazzi is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated
PG-13.
The running time is 1 hr. 25 mins..
It isn't exactly understandable why
Paparazzi enjoyed such a small amount of publicity prior to its theatrical release, just as it wasn't explicable why press wasn't allowed to attend screenings of the film in order for review.
Paparazzi is not the horrible film I expected it to be due to all the negative signals that seemed to be sent from the studio. While it isn't exactly up to theatrical release quality it does have a greater-than-TV release feel to it.
Starring Cole Hauser (
2 Fast 2 Furious)
Paparazzi follows the story of Bo Laramie, an up-and-coming actor with a beautiful wife and young son and now the pesky paparazzi have pegged his family as the new cover kids of the tabloid simply titled "Paparazzi."
With shots of Bo and his wife popping up nude and his personal life being taken out of context Laramie decides to take the issue into his own hands after a Princess Di-like car accident leaves his wife injured and his son in a coma.
Hauser is just on the cusp of becoming a big name actor and remaining in the lower tier of action stars as he has a look of the cocky prick, but seems to have a hard time relaying sincere emotion besides that of being pissed off. However, that doesn't stop such actors as Vince Vaughn and Matthew McConaughey from popping up and offering cameo roles for this flick.
As for the special features on this one you get a director's commentary track, a few deleted scenes from the film also with optional commentary, a look at two of the stunts from the film and a short making-of featurette. While these don't exactly sell the film it does show that Fox thought more of it than just to make it a throw-away title.
Paparazzi is not a DVD you are going to want to buy, this is a title to rent and if you happen to be one of the few that will find multiple viewings worthwhile then by all means pony up the cash and buy it, but for the rest of you this is a good title when you can't find anything else on the rental shelves and "24" is a re-run.
