"One Missed Call" - Blu-ray Disc Review
REVIEWED BY Brad Brevet
I honestly cannot remember a DVD/HD DVD/Blu-ray disc that I have ever owned or reviewed that did not include a single special feature. Even before there were special features the discs at least included the theatrical trailer. Something to make it seem worth more than it actually was. Warner Bros. isn't even trying to lie to their consumers with this release of One Missed Call, a film that actually scored a 0% at RottenTomatoes. Yup, that's a zero out of 64 reviews. Guess what, mine isn't going to be any better.

I won't drone on because I think you already know where this is going to go. This film is bad on multiple levels, but aside from that it is also a shame. It's a shame because one of the stars is Ed Burns, a guy that showed so much promise. A guy that I loved in Confidence and then he somehow disappeared as if he had been taken out by snipers.

Now, come to find out, he's been making movies about killer cell phones. Yup, if the movie doesn't kill yah the phone will finish you off.

Apparently the film is based on a Takashi Miike J-horror, a film that was rated-R and apparently liked by its core group. What should come as no surprise is that when you adapt a Japanese horror into an American one and go from R-to-PG-13 you are already setting up a recipe for failure. One Missed Call manages to succeed in its failure.

The film is uninspired. The plot isn't thought out. Not even Burns or his co-star Shannyn Sossamon even care about the film to even begin to try and convince you there is any danger.

This is one of those horror films where there were moments when the characters almost could have stopped the whole thing from happening but they mess that up. It's one of those films where one character "figures it all out" only to find out they didn't know anything. The ending will have you scratching your head because you can't even believe it could be that bad. This film has no redeeming value and I really don't have much more to say. When the studio releasing the film doesn't even try why should I, outside of telling you to never watch this movie for fear you may give up movie watching for good after doing so.
