Night Court: The Complete First Season is a Warner Home Video release and is rated

The running time is 313 mins..
I used to watch "Night Court" religiously, but I never assumed it would be this funny revisiting it on DVD.
Warner Bros. is going through their closets and releasing all of their old TV shows and thankfully they dusted off this old school classic that stands the test of time with the best of them.
It isn't exactly a mystery as to what "Night Court" is really about, but what the title doesn't tell you is that you are about tobe introduced to the wildest cast of characters to stand before a jury, as this show began in 1984 with characters that passed on attitudes that feel as if they are a product of the modern era starting with Dan Fielding.
The sex starved prosecuting attorney, played by John Larroquette, whose libido and arrogance provide for the show's funniest moments. Then you have the six-foot-six bailiff, Bull, played by Richard Moll whose kind heart, dim wits and menacing size add for more comedy relief than should really be possible with such an ox.
But everything starts and stops with the new night court judge Harry Stone (Anderson) as he passes on his moral lessons, jokes, magic tricks and feelings throughout the shows first 17 episodes.
On top of the first season of episodes this DVD set also comes equipped with an audio commentary on the pilot episode by Reinhold Weege, which is actually very good and just enough. There is no need for additional commentary as Weegee is able to sum up his thoughts on the show in this one episode. Then there is also a short documentary in which Harry Anderson and Reinhold Weegee both take part in and while this isn't exactly a pleasure to watch, but if you have a few minutes to kill and love the show it might be a good way to pass the time.
Overall, this is a well worthwhile set and you can't beat the price, as this one is running for about half of what most TV shows go for and they aren't even remotely as funny.
