Murder One - The Complete First Season is a Fox Home Entertainment release and is rated .

The running time is 1035 mins..

"Murder One" is a television show that survived for three seasons on television (1995-1997), which is not to say it was a failure, it simply ran its course. Unfortunately, it should have stopped there, as this is a television show that does not translate well to DVD.

The original aspect of "Murder One" is that it follows one crime, one trial, for the duration of the season, which is a formula that is much better suited for a weekly television program rather than non-stop viewing on DVD.

One of my favorite aspects of television on DVD is that I no longer have to wait in between episodes to see what is going to happen. Shows such as "Alias", that leave you on the edge of your seat in the final five minutes of every episode, no longer have to be pondered on for seven days until you get to find out what is going to happen.

With "Murder One" those seven days are a blessing as the show becomes monotonous and boring as time goes on and you quickly become so bored that you just wish it would all end.

I was able to get through the first three discs in moderation on this set until I finally got fed up and slipped in the final episode just to see what happened. Fortunately, the first minutes of each episode are dedicated to what went on in episodes prior. So with my familiarity with the characters I think I enjoyed it more than if I had actually watched the nine or ten episodes in between, which all seemed like they would have me even more frustrated than I was already.

Honestly, I am not quite sure why Fox felt it was a good idea to peddle this one out on DVD, but since they have I think the die-hard fans of the show and those that LOVE such shows as "L.A. Law" may find some interest here, but it just didn't have enough power to hold me enthralled. This is a title that I cannot recommend you add to your collection, especially when there are so many other ways to burn $41.99, which is way too much to be asking in my opinion.

Special features are limited to a making-of featurette and that is all along with the 23 episodes that make up the complete first season.
