The DVD of Kicking and Screaming isn't a lavish treatment by any means. The deleted scenes are decent but not in any order or listed by scene but rather listed in one long loop. There are 12 minutes of them and it feels a bit disconnected to watch them without explanation. On the other hand Kicking and Screaming isn't Gone with the Wind so I see why they pretty much threw this one out there.
The outtakes are of little tykes goofing up. Have outtakes been good since Smokey and the Bandit? It is kind of cool to see Will Ferrell curse in front of young impressionable minds but otherwise I didn't see the point.
One of the features on the DVD is "kicking it with the kids" which pretty much details working with the kids from the movie. The little kids give interviews and whatnot about working on set. Every once in a while the kids will throw out a zinger or tell you they only have to attend three hours of school on set which makes you laugh because who are they really cheating? Themselves, that's who! No, I'm joking, these kids make more in two weeks of work than I have all year and they actually seem like nice kids.
The other features include a look at the soccer choreography and a look at the two Italians soccer kids (who are in fact real life soccer prodigies). The final feature is a behind the scenes expose where they go into detail about the molestation charges. Ha ha! No, they look at the production of the movie from conception to filming.
Overall Kicking and Screaming is probably a pass unless you are raising kids you hope will make "Saturday Night Live". If you are an adult it won't be funny enough for you, if you are a kid it might be a little too agro. If you are neither a kid nor an adult I have no opinion at all for you. Skip Kicking and Screaming and check out Anchorman again instead.
