"Jonas Brothers: The Concert Experience (Deluxe Extended Movie)" - Blu-ray Disc Review
Skip Down to Special FeaturesREVIEWED BY Sara Michelle Fetters
I know nothing about the Jonas Brothers. I know even less about their music. All I know about them is that they are another Disney creation along the lines of Hannah Montana and Lizzie Maguire with a devoted tween following gushing over their every move as if they were the second coming of The Beatles.

So it almost goes without saying their movie, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, is not for me. Still, at under 90-minutes the Blu-ray is not exactly difficult to watch. Siblings Kevin, Nick and Joe are relatively charming and their songs are pure sugar-coated pop that don't rot your brain. For an admitted non-fan I was okay with sitting at home viewing it, and I imagine those legions of passionate followers are going to be extremely happy with this release.

As for the three-disc set, 3D at home is still relatively problematic. On the plus side, of the discs I've watched in this format (Friday the 13th Part 3, My Bloody Valentine) this is the easiest on the eyes. While the color isn't great (like all of these releases, it's incredibly washed out) it also didn't give me a headache, and considering that's what usually happens with these releases it's a great step forward in my book. But be warned, the package only comes with two sets of glasses, so if you have a bunch of kids who want to watch it that way you're going to be a bit out of luck.

For me, the 2D version is still the superior one. The image quality is fantastic (the film is rather nicely shot by Mitchell Amendsen and Reed Smoot) and there aren't as many distractions. You also don't have to try and make sure you sit so that your television is directly facing you, a small thing that makes lounging around in your living room far more amenable.

The rest of the extras included with this extended edition of the film include two bonus songs and two featurettes following the Jonas Brothers as they live their apparently fantastic and amazing Disney-fied lives. The movie also continues the studio's laudable trend of including a 2D standard definition version of the film, while the third disc is a digital copy viewable on your computer, iPod or whatnot. Finally, the Blu-ray connects to the BDisney Live network, allowing fans to go gaga over the brothers along with the rest of their fellow fanatics.

Those fanatics are who Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience is for, the rest of us are better off just getting out of their way.
